Been without internet since I moved to my new place. Just got it set up today, and I'm catching up on all the MUSIC I've haven't heard in a week. Been keeping up with the news at work, but can't listen to media there, and downloading my daily news broadcasts at night at this coffee shop near my place hahah.

Water
There are many issues facing us as Americans, and many issues facing us as a world as a whole. But none seem to compare to the looming threat of water. Most people have no clue that there used to be a massive aquifer under Texas all the way up to South Dakota that no longer exists, and has created massive land subsidence all along where the water no longer is (that means peoples homes, roads and buildings are sinking into the ground in "random" areas.) Most people have no idea that 1.2billion people have no access to fresh, clean drinking water, or that the quality of water has been decreasing exponentially over the past hundred years. People hear "Global Warming" and think that it has only something to do with CO2 being injected into the air from our cars, but they don't seem to realize the massive droughts all across the globe.
Australia produced its lowest yield of rice since 1927 last year. Why? They don't have water. The backlash of this was the doubling of the price of rice and food riots in countries like Indonesia, the Philippines and Egypt. Human consumption of this necessity for life is at an all time high, and no one seems to want to recognize the fact that it's running out. And when we run out of water, we run out of food. And when we run out of food...
We're experiencing a drought right now, here in America. Las Vegas has outlawed running your sprinklers during the daylight (and you're only allowed to use misters if you do.) Water is a very real problem we're facing. It's projected that at the current rate of population growth, by 2070 all of the worlds fresh water will be in us. Meaning, we'll have consumed all of the worlds fresh water. So are we hearing about this? Do we hear on the news about water shortages in Australia, or the prices of water steadily increasing because it's getting harder and harder to get? Or about all the trees that are dieing here in California because they've gone as far as their roots can go, and they aren't finding water? No. The media wants to keep us complacent and happy, and we'll put off the problem until there's nothing to do about it except go to war.
Instead of now, investing in water desalination plants (we can use reverse osmosis to purify drinking water, that's how we get most of our bottle water,) we're investing our money in OIL and our banking industry. No one seems to care about something if it doesn't bring a nearly immediate profit.
Just wait.
In our lifetime we're going to see wars over the most basic of resources: Water.

News paper article
So yesterday at breakfast at this rad little cafe in San Diego, I was reading the San Diego Union Tribune, and an article in the "Our Region" section. It was a small article on one of the last pages.
This man who was in the navy stole classified documents and gave them to some group in Los Angeles, with 4 other people assisting him. He was the only one tried, served 2 years and was dishonorably discharged.
The military is now RECALLING him into service (this is what I read in the article, I'm not making anything up.) Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find anything googling news articles or going through the AP, it seemed like an independent article pretty much only printed in that news paper.
So he stole information, now he's being recalled into service and probably is going to be put on the front lines and killed. Good times.

Invasion of Privacy
Okay, some people probably don't believe the government is requiring companies to spy on us. But here's some evidence I have, directly from where I work. I work at a company that does life insurance exams, and as I was preparing something to be mailed, I noticed of the corner pages said "USA Patriot Act."
Here's what it says:
".."IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PROCEDURES FOR APPLYING FOR AN INSURANCE POLICY OR ANNUITY CONTRACT"
To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, federal law requires all financial institutions, including insurance companies, to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account, including an application for an insurance policy or annuity contract.
What this means for you: When you apply for an insurance policy or annuity contract, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents."
That second paragraph is a load of CRAP. What is MEANS is that the government is recording people who get life insurance. You have to provide all that information to the insurance company REGARDLESS of the Patriot Act or not. It's saying that information is going to the government.

I didn't know if he was joking or being serious. When I found out he was serious, I stopped laughing and felt a little sick inside. Let's take a look at what the FDA deems to be safe for human consumption.
Fluoride, even though it isn't allowed to be dumped into the oceans or streams and it's a toxic byproduct of the alluminum process AND every independent, non government study that has been conducted on it has declared it to be a toxic chemical that does not have any health benefits. As well, its effectiveness on cavities is just as well if applied directly to (through toothpaste) than if consumed. Fluoride was used during WWII to keep prisoners docile, and it worked pretty fuckin well.
Busphenol-A, has been deemed safe for human consumption. Just wikipedia it, the health side-effects of this compound are extensive and vast.
"Infants fed with liquid formula are among the most exposed, and those fed formula from polycarbonate bottles can consume up to 13 micrograms of bisphenol A per kg of body weight per day (μg/kg/day; see table below).[58] The most sensitive animal studies show effects at much lower doses, while the EPA considers exposures up to 50 µg/kg/day to be safe.[34][59]"
Melamine: "Melamine is described as being "Harmful if swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Chronic exposure may cause cancer or reproductive damage. Eye, skin and respiratory irritant.” However, the toxic dose is on a par with common table salt with an LD50 of more than 3 grams per kilogram of bodyweight.[12] FDA scientists explained that when melamine and cyanuric acid are absorbed into the bloodstream, they concentrate and interact in the urine-filled renal microtubules, then crystallize and form large numbers of round, yellow crystals, which in turn block and damage the renal cells that line the tubes, causing the kidneys to malfunction.[13]"
The EPA recently upped the amount that they deem "safe" for human consumption of this product, because it has been found in almost ALL foods. The EPA refuses to do tests on products for levels BELOW what they suggest as safe (1ppm), even though the EPA levels are dangerously higher than what they should be.
The EPA has dangerous chemicals that are listed as "safe" for human consumption if below certain levels, which in turn allows these companies to put it in products as those "safe" levels, BUT you end up with compounding exposure. Essentially, your tupperware has BPA in it, then your bottle of water has it, all your plastics have it, and it leaches through your skin (proven) AND through consumption into your system and you end up with elevated levels of BPA because you're getting it from multiple sources. Individually, each source would not have "harmful" levels. Added together: you're screwed.
Anyone noticed the massive rates in infertility rising? Or the cancer rates jumping to new highs? Think it has anything to do with the chemicals we're unknowingly ingesting by an organization supposedly there to product us? Nah, couldn't be. We're all safe. The government is looking out for our best interests, even when we're not. =)

More bailouts
So the auto industries in the US are asking for 34billion in loans. I find it hilarious that our congress isn't just handing it over. I mean, they already handed over our country to the banks, they own our money supply. Why don't we just give the auto industry whatever they want?
Congress says they don't believe that the automakers can return to viable production levels to be able to pay back the loans. HAH!
Citigroup is BANKRUPT, they are 50 times leveraged, and we're giving them $300billion to help pull them out. They've already laid off 53,000 people! So why not just tack on another $34billion? We've already thrown out the constitution. We've already added $1trillion to the national debt in the last MONTH alone. We're already headed into a depression. Why not just give the auto industries what they want, so they can pay themselves out of their company JUST LIKE THE BANKS ARE DOING (and have been doing for over the past year, selling the stock in their own company that they could.)
The corruption is disgusting. No one seems to think the market can play itself out and go back to normal, SANE levels. Maybe houses shouldn't be worth $500k for a 2BR, 1BA. Maybe they SHOULD be $50k-100k. But OH NO! That would be TERRIBLE for the market. It would be TERRIBLE for people who bought a house at the top of the market, but let's look at it like this: They're still going to have to make their mortgage payment even if the market collapses, unless they default on the house and walk away (like hundreds of thousands of Americans are doing right now because they couldn't afford the home they bought and they knew they couldn't when they bought it.)
So who gives a shit if we tack on another $34billion to the national debt? We're already bankrupt anyway.
But hey, get this. GM has a PLAN. They're going to do: exactly what they SHOULD HAVE DONE YEARS AGO. But they still haven't admitted they were wrong, and that they invested in the wrong market. Fuck, I heard the CEO that went to congress to beg for money say that their plan was to "switch to the smaller markets." Excuse me? Smaller? They're so small, your company is going "bankrupt" (even though it's doing FINE in other countries and making good profits.) Don't bullshit us. Smaller markets. Yea, Hybrids and FUEL EFFICIENT VEHICLES are the "smaller" markets right now. No, sir. They are the LESS PROFITABLE markets. You can't mark up the price of the vehicle by $20k because it's got slick stylish rims and a boomin sound system when it's as small as a Toyota Yaris.
What the fuck happened to the Free Market, when companies that operated incorrectly and LIED ABOUT THEIR PROFITS went under, and the companies that did good business and cared about their employees, and cared about how they affected the worl-... oh wait. It never was there.
